How do I know what adhesive will work for my material?
Here is a link to our compatibility guide where you can search by material.
Is HH-66 useful for inflatable boats, kayaks, and paddleboards?
HH-66 is specifically designed to bond PVC vinyl. It works great for patching inflatable hulls and attaching accessories that are made of vinyl.
Does HH-66 work on vinyl awnings and other outdoor structures?
HH-66 bonds vinyl materials very well. For repairing tears, a patch will be needed.
Is HH-66 appropriate for repairing recreational inflatables (bounce houses, portable hot tubs, etc.)
For good-quality vinyl fabric inflatables, yes! For most repairs, a patch will be required.
Will HH-66 work for repairing auto or boat interiors?
HH-66 will adhere automotive vinyl, but for large tears or cracks, it is best to use a vinyl patch to reinforce the repair. Note: exposure to sunlight will yellow HH-66, so excess adhesive should be removed.
Can I use HH-66 to bond PVC trim for construction?
Yes! HH-66 can be used to ensure that miter joints stay closed and flush. We have specialised instructions for this application
Will HH-66 work on tarps?
HH-66 works very well on durable tarps made of vinyl coated fabrics. However, tarps made of polyethylene, polypropylene, or nylon (typical “blue tarp” material or thin clear sheeting) are not compatible with our products.
I need a temporary bond to stitch together leather/fabrics, or to seal my stitched seams, what can I use?
Duall-88 and S-18 are suitable for bonding leather and most fabrics. HH-66 bonds vinyl coated fabrics which are typically used in outdoor applications such as marine furniture and awnings. Please note: HH-66 will yellow in sunlight, so excess adhesive should be removed.
What is the temperature range of HH-66?
There are two temperature ranges of interest: application temperature and service temperature. HH-66 is best applied between 35F and 95F. Once applied, HH-66 will maintain its flexibility and performance from -20F to 150F.
Will HH-66 work underwater?
HH-66 will bond and hold underwater but should not be applied underwater. After cleaning the area to be repaired, apply HH-66 to a patch and allow the cement to dry to a tacky condition before submerging. Fold the patch, submerge, then carefully unfold underwater and apply while smoothing out air bubbles to ensure even contact. HH-66 is great for repairing pool linings!
Do your products yellow in the sun?
HH-66 will slightly yellow with sun exposure over time. Excess material should be removed, and HH-66 should not be used as a seam sealing material for fabrics exposed to the sun. Our neoprene products (Duall 88, S-18 and Clear-Tite) are stable in sunlight.
Can I bond your adhesives after the tack time has expired? Can I reactivate it?
The tack can be regained by applying HH Thinner to the surface. As an alternative, applying a second coating of HH-66 will restore the tack for a brief period.
How long should I keep pressure on the bond before testing its strength?
Patches will normally stay in place without pressure. Our adhesives reach full strength in 24 hours.
Can I use HH-66 to seal pinholes in my vinyl material?
HH-66 is not a gap filler.
What color do your products dry to?
Please see the individual product pages for this information.
I am having trouble bonding my materials, what can I do?
First, make sure the adhesive you are using is suitable for the materials being bonded. Most adhesion failures are the result off using the incorrect adhesive for the application and materials being bonded. If it is the correct adhesive, clean and dry the surfaces to be sure they are free of oil or contaminates. Lightly sanding the surfaces also helps with hard to bond materials. Be sure to clean the dust from the surfaces after sanding. Also note: HH-66 does not bond to all plastics; it should not be used with polyethylene or polypropylene.
What if HH-66 is too thick for my application?
HH-66 thickens as solvent evaporates. Store HH-66 is a sealed container to prevent solvent evaporation. If HH-66 does thicken but is still fluid, it can be thinned with HH Thinner or acetone (Note: acetone is the primary ingredient in some nail polish removers). Do not use HH-66 if it has become very thick and barely pourable.
How do I repair my pool liner?
Here is a link to our vinyl pool repair section which includes a how-to video.
Do I need to wear gloves while using RH Products adhesives?
If our convenient brush is used carefully, contact can be avoided. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) reusable gloves are suitable for use with HH-66.
Are your products water based?
No, all current RH Products adhesives are solvent-based.
What chemicals are in your products?
Here is a link to each of our Safety Data Sheets that provide chemical composition of our products.
Are your products flammable?
Yes, our products are flammable. Use in a well-ventilated area. Do not store next to sources of heat, spark, flame, or ignition. Avoid prolonged breathing and concentrating of vapours. Keep out of reach of children.
How should I store RH Products adhesives?
Our adhesives should be kept in the original container with the original label, in a non-corrosive environment, and according to all applicable laws. Do not store next to sources of heat, spark, flame, or ignition. Please keep out of the reach of children.
What is the shelf life of HH-66?
The shelf life is 18 months from the date of manufacture when stored in an unopened can. The date of manufacture is printed on a small white sticker on the top of the can.
How long can I keep the can open?
The can should be closed when not in use. If a film forms on top of the can, stir thoroughly and allow the film to dissolve into the remaining cement.
What is the useful life of an opened can?
If a can of our product is closed between uses, then the useful life of the adhesive should be the same as an unopened can. If a film forms on top of the cement in the can, stir thoroughly and allow the film to dissolve into the remaining cement.
Does HH-66 freeze?
HH-66 does not freeze but is impacted by temperatures below freezing. The solubility of the polymers in the solvent system is reduced at temperatures below 32F. This may result in a white gel appearing in the cement. Bringing the can to room temperature and shaking will return HH-66 to its original texture. The performance will not be degraded.
Do I need to shake or stir your products?
Our cements should not settle but if any separation occurs this usually can be resolved by stirring or shaking the material.
How do I dispose of unused product?
Our products contain flammable solvents and must be disposed of properly. Many local Department of Public Works hold periodic hazardous waste disposal days.
Who do I contact in case of emergency?
Call INFOTRAC for 24 Hour Emergency Response at 1-352-323-3500
What are the common causes of bond failure?
Does humidity affect dry time?
Humidity does not affect dry time for our adhesives.
What does Tack Time mean?
The period of time in which an adhesive will remain in the tacky condition after application. The materials being bonded should be pressed together while the adhesive is still tacky. If the adhesive dries and loses tack, another application of the adhesive will restore tack for a brief time.
What is toluene and why does it help adhesion?
Toluene is an aggressive solvent that helps to keep the solids in our cements in solution, and also wets the surface to improve adhesion.
How does a toluene free adhesive perform versus a similar adhesive that has toluene added?
Solvents do not remain in the final bond. Appropriately formulated toluene-free adhesives should perform similarly to contact cements with other solvents.
Return Policy
In accordance with federal and state guidelines and for the safety of our consumers, suppliers, and carriers, our adhesive products are non-returnable and not refundable. Due to the flammable nature of the solvents that constitute our adhesives, we cannot accept returns under any circumstances.
How much adhesive should I buy?
HH-66 coverage is approximately 200 square feet per gallon, as we estimate just over half an ounce per square foot of coated area. We generally recommend both surfaces be coated, however, so one gallon will cover approximately 100 square feet of bond area, as you will need just over one ounce per square foot of bond area.
Where can I buy your products?
